11th Annual Leadership 1.0 program - Spring 2022

March 1, 2022
SFMEA_Staff

A citywide leadership development program collaboratively sponsored by the City and County of San Francisco and MEA. DHR will accept nominations for the program beginning Monday, February 28th

Nomination Process

The program welcomes nominations from all City departments for managers representing a diversity of experiences and backgrounds.  This is for MEA-represented  managers who would benefit from this unique opportunity to build skills and develop relationships with other City leaders.  This is also a great opportunity to consider how this program can help support your department’s racial equity goals for leadership development.

Department Heads may nominate individuals for the program, or your department may allow managers to self-nominate. The nomination form is attached. Completed nomination forms will be accepted from February 28th through March 24th; and will be reviewed in the order received. In order to ensure a diverse cohort, a maximum number of 1-3 program spots will be designated for participating departments, depending on department size and overall response. For this reason, early nomination is only one of the factors DHR considers in selecting the cohort.

Program Information

The CCSF and MEA Leadership 1.0 program is ideal for managers interested in strengthening communication skills and supporting team members through effective coaching and conflict management techniques. The program aims to empower managers with the skills and confidence to lead their teams effectively now and in the future.

The program will run from April through mid-June and will consist of 10-12 half-day virtual sessions. The attached brochure outlines the program components, schedule, prerequisites, and participant fee. Departments should support their nominee’s full participation in the program by providing nominated leaders with protected time away from their work to attend all cohort sessions. Each nominee’s manager is asked to commit to meeting with the nominee throughout the program to discuss how to best leverage the program content.
