The Racial Equity Committee (REC) will work to engage in difficult conversations about respect, rights, equity, and systemic change on behalf of our members by leading discussions on wages, benefits, and work conditions. Our committee’s work involves discussing racial equity with department heads, racial equity staff, and consultants that work for various City departments. While many departments have wholeheartedly embraced racial equity and have developed and implemented plans that are slowly starting to change the system, some are struggling. The committee may also offer advice and perspective to leadership and staff on the issues managers face, especially concerning racial equity issues.
