14-15 Management Training Fund Guidelines for CCSF and MTA Approved by MEA Board
1. 2014-2015 Allocation to Training Reimbursement Fund: CCSF: $150,000, MTA: $15,000;
2. 2014-2015 Allocation to Equipment Reimbursement Fund: CCSF: $100,000, MTA: $15,000;
3. Both training and equipment requests require pre-approval, i.e. if not pre-approved, the expenditure will not be reimbursed through the MEA Fund;
4. July 2014 (this month) will be a blackout period on equipment and training requests to allow MEA and the City/MTA to close the books on FY 13-14 – this has been the past policy;
5. DHR will start accepting online requests for CCSF managers through the Online Tuition Reimbursement Process on August 11, 2014 (see note below on MTA requests);
6. The last business day in April 2015, or the point at which we process 100 CCSF applications (15 MTA applications), will be the cut-off date for MEA to pre-approve under the Equipment Program;
7. The last business day in June 2015, or the point at which funding is exhausted, will be the cut-off date for pre-approval requests submitted to and processed by MEA for training;
8. Starting in August, first time participants in the Equipment Program will be processed. First time participants in the Equipment Program will be given priority for approval. MEA will then process member requests for equipment not previously purchased (e.g. phone if prior purchase was laptop). Finally, requests for replacements for equipment purchased prior to July 1, 2012 will be processed assuming funds are still available. PLEASE NOTE: Laptops and Tablets are considered the same piece of equipment. Laptop = Tablet.
9. As in 13-14, all CCSF managers (except MTA) must utilize the Online Tuition Reimbursement system found at the DHR website.
10. The Online Tuition Reimbursement program will send email notifications regarding ANY change in the “status” of a request. Therefore, it is important that all participating employees update their online account with a current email address.
For more specific information on filing deadlines, receipt requirements and other FAQs, please consult the Management Training tab on the MEA website at www.sfmea.com
Important MTA Note:
MTA does not utilize the Online Tuition Reimbursement program for their Management Training administration. If you are an MTA manager and want to access the MTA Management Training Funds, you must fill out a paper application for every request - both equipment and training. Applications for 14-15 are available online at www.sfmea.com. They will be processed consistent with the guidelines noted above.
