We are pleased to announce that Criss Romero has been selected as our permanent Executive Director following a nationwide search facilitated by a professional recruiting firm. The Board of Directors is confident that Criss’ leadership and commitment to our mission make him the right choice for this role. A Thorough and Transparent Process Engaging a professional recruiting firm and conducting a nationwide search was an investment in the future of our organization. The Board was committed to ensuring a transparent and competitive process, in alignment with our governance practices and fiduciary responsibilities. By conducting a comprehensive search, the Board fulfilled its duty to consider a wide range of candidates, evaluate diverse perspectives, and ultimately confirm that the best leader for our organization was already at the helm. Meeting the Needs of a Growing Membership As MEA membership continues to grow, so do the demands for expanded resources and support. Criss’ deep experience, strong relationships, and expertise in navigating City processes uniquely position him to meet these challenges and enhance member support. The Board also acknowledges that this growth may require additional staffing and infrastructure investments to ensure Criss and the MEA team can continue delivering the advocacy our members expect and deserve.
